Hi Olman,
Well I got my first lot of mulching done today with 'the beast'. Wow, I just love it!
Was a bit scary at first, it's huge and noisy but I'm happy as a pig in mud!!
After putting in required fuel and oil, checked all nuts and bolts nice and tight, turned the key and VROOOOM first go.
I have realised it will be useful to have a tarp down first so that I can pick up the mulch and tip into my trusty tipper tow trailer for ease of taking the mulch to where it needs to be. Can't wait for daylight so I can get stuck in again.
I imagine I'll have a sore back too in a few days lol.... Cheers and happy Easter to you

Hi Julie, thanks for taking the time to make a comment. I had given the chipper a pretty good workout and purchased another blade for it as the original blade had dulled and it wasn't chipping as well as when first purchased. It had been sitting in the shed for about 12 months before I installed the new blade. Took it to the pile, turned the key and off it went, like brand new. Surprised me, I thought the battery would've been in need of a recharge. Happy mulching.
Olman
PS I'm with you on the baking

Hi Olman Gardner. I am so pleased to have found your blog (page). I too have just purchased 'the beast' 15 hp and after buying oil tomorrow will be ready for action. I'm reading all I can about operation, tips and maintenance, not much out there. We have just purchased one acre home/land and previous owner cut down a lot of large gums and a bunya pine. Then left all the logs in the yard and piled all the smaller debris a metre high around three fences!! It's a lot to be got rid of so I'm hoping 'the beast' will help me get it all squared away and tidy. I have a bit of an orchard growing so the mulch will be handy.
By the way, I think the company name is a bit sexist Big Boyz Toyz, as I'm a female and would rather play with my 'big girl toys' than bake any day... Cheers and thanks for the blog, look forward to more
